Dash speakers, done right.

No more "may not be compatible with" or "slight modification required". We engineered our midrange drivers from the ground up for a perfect fitment using only ultra-premium materials (6061 curvilinear aluminum cones, inverted santoprene surrounds, injection molded baskets) to ensure long-term performance. Whether you rock out to Steve Perry, Winwood, Wonder, or any other kind of Steve - you'll feel like you're sitting in the front row at the show.

Jeep Wrangler Front SoundStage Upgrade for Wrangler JL and Gladiator JT

Factory look, aftermarket performance.

Music without tweeters is like running stock tires with a lift. The bean counters back in '14 decided you didn't need them, but we know otherwise. These warm, vibrant, 20mm silk tweeters were designed to pair harmoniously with our midrange drivers. The challenge was creating an elegant mounting solution. Enter our reimagined grilles. Drawing inspiration from the polished rings surrounding the gauge cluster, the tweeters are housed in machined 6061 aluminum casings that integrate seamlessly for a factory fit and finish.

To get the best possible listening experience:

For optimal sound quality in any vehicle, we want to be directly connected to the source unit via either USB or USB-C. While Bluetooth streaming is convenient the dynamism simply isn’t there yet in most modern vehicles. Yes, your music will still sound amazing with our upgrade, but if you’re after peak performance you’ll want a direct physical connection to your device.

Part of the upgrade process in every audio environment is setting the tone controls (bass, treble, any sort of EQ or enhancement) to a flat level (in the middle if a visual representation is offered) and making sure that any Loudness controls are turned to OFF. Beyond that, if you’re using your phone to stream music via most of the popular platforms, you’ll want to go into the device’s main settings and turn any Equalization to OFF on both the native music player and then within the streaming platform you’re using to make sure no additional sonic manipulation is activated (bass boost, etc). This is most important as you listen at higher volume levels, as distortion is the enemy of sound quality.

Why we don't offer a rear speaker upgrade:

The most common question we get, by far, is “Why don’t you offer a speaker upgrade for the sound bar?” Well, here’s why: The speakers in the sound bar are obviously already behind us, and given the movement of sound through the cabin and that our ears are tuned to sounds in front us (hence a "front soundstage"), we see little if any reason (which is of course debatable, but after 20 years of designing loudspeakers as well as audio systems of all types we've developed a sense for what really works for most people) in spending money on speakers that aren't effectively improving the actual presence of a soundstage in front of us (think of a band at a concert).

We spent the better part of 18 months dialing in this upgrade, and after extensive modeling and actual prototypes installed in the rear sound bar we just don't see (or hear) a valid reason to add speakers/spend money on speakers behind you. Sure, you can "hear" some additional sound coming from behind you but your ears/brain can't process it in such a way that you'll perceive any improvement in what you're actually hearing. We could’ve easily “designed” some rear speakers (hell, the midrange drivers are identical) and sold it as an upgrade but we’re tired of companies always preaching “more, more, more” when it doesn’t truly benefit the customer.

  • 80mm midrange driver
  • 20mm tweeter
  • 6db first order high pass filter on tweeter
  • Frequency Response 100Hz-22kHz
  • Nominal Impedance - 7 ohms
  • Power Handling - 35 watts per channel at 8 ohms

For those of you with aftermarket amplification - For optimal performance, you'll want to select the Alpine version of the speakers as there are no additional filters on the midrange driver itself. Here's how to tune your amplifier for optimal staging and acoustical performance.

  • Set the head unit volume to approximately 90% of it's output volume (numerically speaking, if your head unit max volume is at 50, turn the head unit volume to 45.)
  • Before tuning the amplifier, turn all output channels (gains) all the way down so you're able to dial in the front output of the Terra Acoustics components.
  • On your channels that power the Terra Acoustics components, set your amplifier's output filter to High Pass and adjust the frequency to approximately 180Hz.
  • Slowly increase the gain on the channels of the amplifier that power the Terra Acoustics components until you hear them playing as loud as you'll be listening to the music. KEEP YOUR EARS OPEN FOR DISTORTION. While these drivers are capable of very high outputs, since amplifier power and output varies you'll ultimately be responsible for determining the maximum capabilities of the system.
  • From there, blend in the remaining channels of the system to bring a balanced listening environment to the Jeep.
  • Allow 3 or so hours for the components to properly break in before putting the system through its paces. The glues and materials need to acclimate to the inevitable rock concert that will soon follow.

Alpine vs. Non-Alpine

How can I tell the difference between a factory Alpine and factory standard system Wrangler?

Not sure if your 2014 - 2018 Jeep Wrangler JK has the Alpine upgrade from the factory? The easiest way to check is by identifying the front dash speaker grilles. Alpine equiped Wranglers have the "Alpine" logo added to the speaker grilles as shown below.

Why does it matter when ordering my Terra Acoustics upgrade?

Our Front Soundstage Upgrade kits are specifically tuned for maximum performance based upon your Jeep's factory system.

"I have aftermarket components. Which kit do I order?"

The first thing you need to do is determine which factory system your Jeep has: Alpine vs. Non-Alpine. Next, find the statement below applies to your Jeep and order the corresponding upgrade kit. If you still have questions, or your particular setup doesn't fit any of these criteia, send us a message and we'll be glad to help you find the right kit.

  • If you’ve made no changes to your stereo setup, order whichever kit corresponds to how your Jeep was equipped from the factory.

  • If you have the factory Standard audio system, but have installed an aftermarket head unit and no additional amplifiers, order our STANDARD kit.

  • If you have the factory Alpine system in your Jeep, but have installed an aftermarket head unit AND kept the factory amplifier in place, order the ALPINE version of our kit.

  • If you have an aftermarket head unit AND aftermarket amplifier, order the ALPINE upgrade and set your amplifier’s output crossover to approximately 200Hz on a high pass filter.
